How the game works:

1. Players/adventurers will scan the QR code from one of these locations advertising the “Weekender’s Pirate Quest Adventure in Downtown Broken Arrow”:

• Kiosk on Main Street.

• Store Window in a downtown business.

• Small displays at local Broken Arrow Hotels.

• Weekender or Virtual Broken Arrow Facebook Pages.

As usual we will have a short info screen on how the game works, and the players will have to agree to a hold harmless clause (That has not been a problem in the past).  Once advancing past that screen, the players will have to give us their Pirate Team Name, Number of Pirates in their Party, and Pirates Zip Code of Origin which will be shared with participating businesses.

1. Once they complete and submit that information, they will be sent to the Virtual Broken Arrow mobile website where they will see icons next to certain businesses on the virtual map.  Icons include:

• Ship icon (Which will be one of the local businesses) where they will pick up their “loot” bags.  Once they have their loot bags, they will use the virtual map to locate up to 12 more businesses and visit them in search of Wooly’s Pirate Treasure.

• Treasure Chest Icon that will be on the virtual map for the businesses participating in the hunt.

1. At each business location they visit with a “treasure chest” icon on the virtual map, the adventurers will proceed to the host station of that business.  Here they will have to find the “pirate password” for this business (We will help you come up with a cool name if needed) and they will verbally give that password to the store host.

NOTE: your staff should not open the chest for them until they tell you what the pirate password is.  Adventurers can find The Pirate password for your business on the Virtual Broken Arrow Mobile webpage while navigating to your business from the map.

Once they give the host that password, the pirate players may loot one item from the chest per adventurer in their group.  After they are done looting, the adventurers return to the virtual map to look for more treasure chest locations.

 

How the Treasure Chests Work:

There are 3 types of treasure chests in this hunt. 

• “Loot Bag Chest” where pirates will pick their loot bag.  There is only one location for this type of chest, and it will go to the business whose hours best represent the primetime hours for our adventurers (open Thursday-Sunday from noon to 10pm). This location will have an advantage as ALL adventurers must visit this location FIRST.

• “Wooly’s Tresure Chest” will be filled with pirate gold, coins, diamonds, and pearls!  This will only be at ONE location but will rotate locations monthly to keep the pirates on their toes.  This is the chest ALL adventurers are looking for.

• “Small Treasure Chests” will hold promotional items (provided by the Weekender), that adventurers can “loot” from if they can guess/find the businesses pirate password.  There will be up to 12 of these locations scattered around Downtown Broken Arrow as shown on the Virtual Broken Arrow Virtual Map.

  • NOTE: One Treasure Chest will NOT have Treasure in it BUT will have the Kraken with a QR Code.  Adventurers must scan this QR Code and complete the quiz before returning to the adventure.  Quiz includes:

    • Select what businesses you visited

    • General Feedback

    • Photo Submission

      • (Group Pirate Photo)

    • Any other data we need to get from the adventurers within reason.

What does it take for your business to participate:

Since we already have most of the resources needed to at least kick this adventure off by Memorial Day Weekend, we are only asking for a donation of $20 per business participation.  Here are the expectations for participation:

​

• Your business will receive a treasure chest from the Weekender to use for the adventure.

• This treasure chest, no matter what kind, will stay at the Host station and NEVER leave the host station. 

• Your staff will need to know the password to the chest so that if the adventurers can figure out the password and say it to you, THEN they can get loot from that chest.  DO NOT GIVE THE CHEST to the public nor let them hold it (With exception to Wooly’s Chest but only if they want to take a photo with it).  The staff does not need to get involved any further, the adventurers will either pull loot out of the chest or perform a task that is inside the chest.  (Also, we will work with you to set up your pirate password)

• When you run low on Treasure or Promo Loot, email or text the contact info on the bottom of the chest for more resources and we will deliver you more. 

• Our expectations are to run this from Memorial Day to Labor Day, however if resources hold out, we may run it longer. 

• As a business, you may enter the adventure and leave the adventure anytime you want but, it will require another $20 donation to get back in.  Also, donation prices are only needed when you JOIN the pirate quest. The longer you wait to join could result in an increase in required donation amount going into the summer depending on resource needs to run the Pirate Quest Adventure.
